Crazy, Busy Summer

I'm a teacher. That means I get the summers off with my kiddos. I love my my job, and I especially love June, July, and August. This summer was busy, crazy busy. It started with a camping trip, our first-ever camping trip with the kids. We went with another family to a nearby state park. JD and Jeff were able to work during the days and join Julia, 6 kids, and myself in the evening. We biked and swam and biked and swam some more. Nightly campfires meant s'mores, hobo pies, and roasted hot dogs. We had a great time, but it wasn't exactly vacation. Camping is a lot of work.

July was hot, maybe not for the southerners out there, but for us Vermonters (who average one airconditioning unit per home) it was hot. High temperature records were broken. I went to the lake a couple of times with the kids, which was good, but then it hit me hard that I was expecting a baby in a month and had a lot to do. I spent days on end painting bedrooms, staining trim, painting and staining windows, laying down laminate flooring, etc. Upstairs. In 90 degree weather. While 8 months pregnant. Not fun. The goal was to get the bedrooms up there finished so that Ryley and Zeke could move up there and their old bedroom could become the nursery. That happened. Lots of finishing touches to keep us busy this winter though.

2 weeks to go, another camping trip, more memories made. 1 week to go, county fair, tractor pulls, last minute baby purchases. Baby day has arrived!

Here we go again...

I'm really going to do this. I haven't posted anything since March; I haven't even tried logging in. I want to do this, and I'm going to really try to keep it up. It was a good sign when I was able to get my password correct on the second try :). I have several posts in mind and will be writing them soon. At this point, no one knows that I'm even trying to do this. I think I'll keep it that way until I've proven to myself that I can keep it up.
